I am sure by now you must have an idea of what all dental books you require to clear your BDS examinations. But the journey is still not over!

List Of books For Neet,MDS , AIPG/ AIIMS Pg exam

For MDS preparation, you have to again dig in those basic textbooks to brush up your knowledge. It would be fabulous if you can go through each and every chapter, but ofcourse that task would be too daunting and nearly impossible. So I suggest you go through basic important topics which you list out form previous 5 years AIPG question papers.

These books are a must to visit for certain chapters.

  2. Human Embryology with CD – ROM
  3. Essentials of Physiology for Dental Students
  4. Dental Pharmacology (Full 4 Color)
  5. Phillips’ Science of Dental Materials: 1st South Asia Edition (casting,gold materials and impression materials chapters)
  6. Shafer’s TB of Oral Pathology (Cyst lesions)
  7. Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, 3e (Neville, Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology) ( first 10 chapters)
  8. Park Textbook of Preventive and Social Medicine (Part PSM) (Very Very Important book)

I understand that it must be a daunting task of going through unending books for MDS entrance exam preparation.

To ease your work, here is a list of must have books that you will require for your basic study preparation apart from your regular dental textbooks.

 

  1.  Dental Pulse set 2016 updated. This is a must have book.

 

 

 

2. Another Bible of Dental PG Neet Entrance 2016 updated. Must have book.

3. COMEDK Dental Buster. This book has very important Comedk Papers. Majority of questions are repeated from previous papers, So you must go through this.

 

 

4. I cannot overemphasize the value of this book. Out of 200 questions in Neet PG, 100 questions come from medical subjects and this is THE book, from which you will be able to crack those quesitons. DEFINATELY HAVE THIS BOOK- AIPGMEE updated 2016 by Mudit Khanna.

5. Another latest 2016 dental Solved MCQs from various exams. Target MDS. 

6. Almost all Periodontology questions are asked from this book. It is a very useful book for Perio subject.
7. You will be surprised when you go through this book, understanding from where Neet PG is asking questions related to Community dentistry. Its a very very important book deciding your scoring in a boring subject like Community Dentistry. But I assure you, you will not be bored reading this informative book. Its the secret of top scorers.

These are the basic MCQ books that you would require to start with.

NBDE is another set of 21 books that you will have to solve as around 10 questions are definitely asked in every AIPG exam from it. I has studied only the clinical part.

You can get the entire series from Cheapest Xerox, outside government dental college, GDC Mumbai, FORT area. Everyone knows this place, so it should not be difficult for you to find it. They charge around 3000 rupees (Last that I checked) for the entire series.

Also, go through certain textbooks from your BDS curriculum to have that extra edge over other candidates.

After Exam is Over, What to do next!

Phew!! Finally its over. You have a feeling it went nice. Now what to do?

Well, go out, celebrate, chill!!

Don’t overthink about what more you could have done. Whats done is done. Enjoy yourself, believe in yourself. Have faith and daily remind yourself you will get in your rank and the seat you desire.

I did that, and I got what I wanted and I believe you too will get what you want.

Last 15 days of MDS preparation

A special time table has to be prepared for last 15 days.

You should study for like 9-10 hours and revise and revise past question papers. By now you should not make a single mistake in repeated questions. I had revised past 5 years all entrance exam papers 8 times. Try to make that your target.

  • Last 3 hours

So it’s the D- Day. You have prayed, took blessings of family and are about to travel to reach your exam center. You see everyone at the exam center buried in one or the other book and you take out one of your books to do the same!! Never do that. What will you mug up at the last moment? All you will be doing is stressing your brain even before the exam has started.

You should just relax. Listen to a music, meditate or eat your favorite chocolate and talk about absolutely non-related stuff. Ease your mind. The more you are relaxed the better it will perform inside the hall. Have faith in your preparation.

Everyone of you will go through this rough phase. How well you cope up from it will decide your rank. Yes, this phase is equally important and shape the way you prepare for your exam.

In my first attempt, I was thoroughly misguided, you may identify yourself with my situation. I studied everything, literally every book that there was to read. Yes, It helped me a lot in gathering knowledge, but that absolutely did not help me clear my exam. I wasted precious hours in my fear of failure to read through chapters that were futile. In my extra effort to retain everything that I read, my brain over burdened with all the information, deleted important things and during exam, I knew I had read this question somewhere, but I could not recollect the answer! Utter frustration! After My first attempt I gave up the thought of pursuing MDS and joined a clinic as a Locum. I felt I slogged my ass for 18 hours a day, dint enjoy my internship, as I used to sit with dental pulse to solve questions, studied while travelling in trains, while eating , etc. Dint go for movies, studies late at night, all for nothing! This is not my piece of cake.

How much to attempt?

I just waited for exams to get over. Every day seemed like I had a mountain to climb in scorching sun!! Well, I dint get a good rank and so I decided to give up MDS.

8 months I was doing locum, was happy. But somewhere I felt I did not give my full potential and then I decided to give a last shot! But this time, with a different approach.

As I mentioned earlier, I chose to study for just 8 hours.

Every 1 hour I took a break of 10 mins. I listened to a song, or did exercise. Every evening for 45 mins I walked listening to my favorite music. On Sundays I enjoyed for complete 3 hours, either a movie, or meeting a friend, etc. I ate while watching my favorite serial or with family. All these small activities made me happy.

Now the thing about our human brain is, if you stress it, it will likely forget many things, even if you are literally trying to hammer information inside it. But if your happy, enthusiastic, don’t fear about the outcome, just focus on the time table of just that day, your brain will retain things even read once.

By the time my exams came, I was so hungry for more knowledge, that I was happy to study for 14 hours and yet wasn’t exhausted. That’s how you should feel, if you are studying correctly.
